What "verified" means on Motors.
Most cars in Nigeria are second-hand, so a photo and a price tell you very little. Before any car goes on Motors, a vetted mechanic inspects it at 200 points, its history is pulled, and its papers are matched to the person selling it. The results are on every car, for every buyer to read, free.
Verified cars only, and nothing else.
Motors lists only cars that have passed the checks on this page. If you want to post a car without checks, that is what naijamart.com is for, and it stays free. The two are never mixed, so a buyer on Motors never has to wonder which cars were checked.
- Inspected, graded and history-checked
- Owner identity and papers matched
- Firm offers and Trust payment
- Insurance at handover
- Any car, posted by anyone
- No inspection
- Free to list

The 200-point inspection.
The mechanic comes to the car. Every photo is taken in the Motors app, stamped with the time and the GPS position, so a report cannot be filled in from somewhere else or with another car's pictures.
Every car gets a grade.
A grade is not a pass or fail. A D car can be a fair deal at the right price. What matters is that you know before you pay, and the report lists every fault the mechanic found.
A report lasts 90 days. After that the car needs a quick re-check to stay on Motors.
What happened to it before.
Most imported cars were sold at auction in the United States first. Their records show whether a car was written off, flooded, stolen or rebuilt, and what the mileage was. Motors pulls those records on every imported car and compares the mileage with the odometer the mechanic reads. A mismatch is shown on the car.
The result is on every verified car: either no write-off, flood, theft or rebuilt record, or exactly what was found.
Papers and ownership.
A car whose papers do not match its seller, or that shows up on the stolen-car register, does not go on Motors.
Who the mechanics are, and why their word counts.
A report is only as good as the mechanic behind it. Every Motors inspector confirms their identity, shows proof of their trade, and does a sample inspection we check before they are accepted. A seller or a buyer can put forward their own mechanic, who goes through the same checks.
- A share of reports is inspected again by a second mechanic, at random.
- If a report is proven materially wrong, the seller's fee is refunded and the mechanic is suspended.
- A mechanic with repeat errors is removed from Motors.
- The mechanic is paid from the seller's fee, never by the buyer and never in cash at the car.
Who you are dealing with.
Everyone who sells, hires out or drives on Motors confirms who they are with their NIN or BVN. Chauffeur and hire firms also show their company registration; every driver has a checked licence, a photo and a confirmed NIN, and every car has current insurance and roadworthiness papers. When you book a driver, the driver's name, photo and plate are sent to you before they arrive.
How your money is protected.
Every buyer is offered Trust at checkout, whatever the price of the car. Pay with Trust: your money is held by NaijaMart Trust and released to the seller only when you confirm the car matches its report and the papers have changed hands. Pay direct: you can still choose to pay the seller yourself, and the checks on this page still stand behind the car.
Money is only ever paid out to the seller's own verified bank account. NaijaMart does not lend; car loans come from partner banks.
Who pays for all this.
The seller pays once, when the car is checked. Buyers pay nothing to read any report.
